Job Description:

You will be a key member of the turnaround and construction planning team, accountable for detailed planning and scheduling of piping/equipment packages for the assigned unit to maximize production while achieving targets in a safe, cost effective and timely manner for projects and turnarounds at the Edmonton refinery. You will take a lead role for the assigned turnaround unit as it relates to the overall scope planning and scheduling.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison with Operations, Engineering and other key stakeholders to review and validate scope of work requested through notifications
  • Liaise with offsite vendors, collect quotes/discuss schedules and set up requisitions
  • Identify steps on the work order based on specifications/procedures and planning practices
  • Provide input and continuous improvement initiatives of the maintenance, planning, scheduling and data integrity processes and standards
  • Develop job specific plans for static equipment and piping including estimating/linking of individual tasks and work package folders with execution details
  • Complete Planning Level Hazard Assessment (PLHA), identify environmental health and safety issues prior to execution and include the mitigation measures to the detailed plan
  • Develop, update and maintain equipment task lists in SAP for future planning/estimating requirements
  • Identify parts and services required to do the job and initiate the ordering process
  • Scope out each job through site visits and discussion or meetings with relevant stakeholders; understand the level of planning detail and documentation appropriate for each individual job
  • Assist Supply Chain Management for identifying and tracking critical long lead items

Job Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • The ability to read/interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, piping ISO’s and familiarity with welding procedures/codes
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to work with complex schedules and optimize for best cost/benefit ratios
  • Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to work professionally with other team members at various levels
  • A deep understanding of planning and scheduling concepts, performances measures, scheduling tools and techniques

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience in planning for an upgrader, refinery or other industrial plant setting
  • Experience with repair methods, specific to refinery static equipment
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Industry experience with a Certified Journeyman status in the boilermaker, pipefitter or welding trades
